02 / Research overview

From a question
to something useful.

A good question can change how you learn, how you create and how you get through your day. Our way of doing research aims to put that potential in your hands: turning possibilities into tools you can understand and use.

Why we research

Progress shows
when it helps you.

Maybe you recognise it in an explanation you finally understand. In that photo you manage to edit just as you imagined. In finding what you were looking for without losing track of what you were doing. They're small moments, but they decide whether a tool finds a place in your day.

That's our benchmark when exploring technology. We're interested in the gap between what a tool lets you do and how easy it is to make the most of it. Research means asking questions about that gap and looking for ways to close it: better journeys, clearer content and features with a recognisable purpose.

SifG22's ambition is to be with you from intention to action. To get closer to it, we combine curiosity, design and review. The result we're after is simple to put into words: more opportunities for you to learn, create and move forward with your own ideas.

The method

Moving forward also
means asking again.

  1. Define.

It all starts with a specific situation: someone wants to learn, create or complete a task and runs into an obstacle. Pinning down what they need, when, and what's stopping them helps us choose a problem worth tackling.

  2. Test.

We shape a first proposal and explore alternatives. A prototype turns a hunch into something you can walk through, question and adjust. That's how we discover what fits and what needs a fresh look.

  3. Measure.

We look for signs of usefulness: whether the information is understood, whether the journey is clear and whether the response arrives in time. What we observe guides our decisions and helps us tell a useful improvement from a change that's merely different.

  4. Improve.

We bring in what we've learned and review the experience again. Fine-tuning one detail can change how a whole product feels. Each version is a chance to get closer to what the person needs to do.

The process is a cycle: what we learn from one version guides the next.

This approach keeps every decision connected to its reason. When a proposal becomes complex, going back to the original need helps us regain direction. When a better alternative appears, the process leaves room to change course.

It also reminds us that improving requires attention to detail. The name of an option, the order of content or the time an image takes to appear can influence the experience as much as a new feature. There's work to do there too.

What guides us

Experience
is the measure.

An idea gains value when it helps someone. These are the criteria we use to review what we build.

Useful for a real task.

A feature starts to make sense when you can explain what you'd use it for. That's why we connect each proposal to a specific need: understanding a topic, editing an image, finding information or enjoying a game. That link to everyday use guides what deserves our attention.

Clear from first contact.

We want you to recognise where you are, what options you have and how to continue. Language, visual hierarchy and the order of content work together to give you that sense of direction. An understandable interface leaves more room for your goal and makes getting started feel more natural.

Quick in everyday use.

A good experience also depends on waiting times. We pay attention to image weight, interface responsiveness and how it adapts to different devices. The aim is for looking things up, exploring and getting back to work to feel smooth in the situations we design for.

Honest about what it can do.

A tool should help you understand what it can offer and where you need to check information or apply your own judgement. We care about explaining features clearly and distinguishing what's available from what we're still exploring. Trust is built when expectations and experience meet.

From research to product

Ideas grow
when they're used.

A tool that saves steps. A resource that helps you understand. An interface that makes it easier to start. We want every improvement to have a concrete effect on everyday life.

SifG Edu, Lumen, Zonik and Nutrio address different needs. Sharing the same attention to design lets us look at each experience with common questions: is it clear? Does it support the person? Does it let them keep going? Those questions keep our vision close to real use.

A vision that keeps growing

Your next idea deserves
room to grow.

We're interested in a future where picking up a tool is the start of something: understanding a subject better, finding a way to express yourself or discovering a possibility you hadn't considered. That vision guides what we explore and why we keep doing it.

We know everyone comes with their own context. With more or less time, from a different screen and with a need that can change from one day to the next. Designing with that diversity in mind encourages us to simplify, explain better and question what we take for granted.

We want SifG22 to grow in that direction, with tools you can bring into your life for what they give you. You can discover them today, follow the news on the blog and share what you'd like to be able to do. Your experience is a valuable perspective for understanding where there's still ground to cover.

Tell us about your experience
Does everything you research end up in a product?

Research opens up different possibilities and some need more time or a different approach. On these pages we share the direction of our work. Each product's page describes its available features; a research area does not by itself mean a feature will be launched.

How can I learn about the current tools?

You can start with SifG Edu, Lumen, Zonik or Nutrio and discover what each one offers. You'll find their features and access links on their pages. If you'd rather see everything together, the SifG22 download page is another starting point.

Can I share an idea or a problem?

Yes. The help center is the place to send us a question or a problem. Telling us what you were trying to do, from which device and where you ran into trouble gives us the context we need to understand your experience.
